How to Create Fictional Orcish Leaders for Your RPG

When creating fictional leaders one needs to decide what it is about them that allowed them to assume the mantle of power to begin with. Too often orcs are just part of a nameless horde, directed by more intelligent allies to simply swarm forward and serve as cannon fodder, but a real tribe would have a real culture, real leaders, and reasons for those leaders to have control. Here we're going to create three fictional leaders so as to posit these very principles.

The first leader would be the head of a confederation of tribes that exist in the foothills of a might mountain range, arcing over the top of a wealthy human nation that they both trade with and raid on a regular basis. They number some twenty thousand individuals, and most of them are preoccupied with herding their sheep and goats and living the life herders. They are wealthy, armed with good iron and have modern saddles, and are strongly connected by blood and family. Their leader would have converted to the southern religion, and for the most part be relaxed and at ease with his power.

The second leader would rule over a wide territory, no open plains allowing cohesion but rather a mass of foothills and low mountains across whose valleys and slopes his tribe is scattered, broken more into clans and small tribes than one great entity. He would be a wily, violent orc, given to mounting deep raids into human territory and then fading back into his land, not seeking to impose order on his followers but leading them more because he brings back good loot than anything else. His tribe would number some 10,000, and barely hold together as one tribe.

The third leader would be a powerful, mean individual, one of several brothers who keep hold of their tribes by means of violence and intimidation. His curse is that the northern side of the mountain has few humans to raid on, forcing them to live off the land and be more impoverished then their southern neighbors. As such as spends much of his time trying to find a way south to crush the southern leader, and actively courts the highland orcs.

Cosplay - Adults Dressing Up Like Comic Book and Cartoon Characters

For people who do not read comic books, or watch cartoons, or play video games, they would look at Cosplay and its followers with a hint of skepticism. In fact to date, many people may not have even heard of the term.

Short for "costume play", Cosplay has been defined as a type of live performance art wherein the participants dress up as a specific fictional character normally found in comic books, cartoon shows or video games. The term was actually coined by Nobuyuki Takahashi. The most common characters portrayed are those from Japanese fiction like anime, manga, hentai and tokusatsu. From Japan, Cosplay has grown into popularity not only in Asia, but in Australia, Europe and America as well. For the latter places, cosplayers generally recreate live action series like Star Trek, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.

Others would also define Cosplay as a sub-culture organized and comprised by many participants all over the world, whose interaction is primarily centered on costumed role-playing, outside the customary venues for the same. Another use for Cosplay is sexual role-play that exhibits people's sexual fetishes. In Japan, there are love hotels that offer costume rentals, and image clubs that feature this more intimate type of Cosplay. Lastly, there are other cosplayers who are more into modeling rather than acting.

In Cosplay, a person's gender and sexual preference are immaterial. In fact, there are two identified kinds of cosplayers: the crossplayers and the crossdressers. Crossplaying is when a person plays the role of the opposite sex. On the other hand, crossdressing is wearing the clothes of the opposite sex. A cosplayer can be either or he can be a crossdresser and a crossplayer at the same time.

Today, one can see cosplayers all over the internet, keeping in touch and exchanging views, photos and updates through online forums, websites and social networks. They meet in Cosplay public events like conventions and join parties and gatherings in cafes, bars and clubs. Some known cosplayers are Lee Teng-hui, Taiwan's first President; Daisuke Enomoto, a Japanese entrepreneur; Yuichiro Nagashima, a Japanese kickboxer and martial artist; Liana Kerzner, a Canadian talk show host; and the Philippines' Cosplay Queen, Alodia Gosiengfiao.

Justin Cooke is an author and partner at TryBPO.com, a Philippines outsourcing company based in Davao City, Philippines. Additionally, he creates niche informational sites about topics such as water bottle label template and buy vitamin supplements for a variety of different industries.

WoW Death Knight Guide - Warcraft's Death Dealing Class

When Blizzard rolled out the WoTLK extension to World of Warcraft back in November 2008, a new character class was introduced known as the Death Knight. This class is unique in the fact that they are the only hero class in World of Warcraft. To be honest the fact that they were categorized under a unique class doesn't make them much more different from other similar classes.

There's also another twist to the Death Knight and that is that the character can't be unlocked until a player reaches level 55. Only then can they assume the identity of the Death Knight. When this class was introduced to WoW his purpose was that of a loyal servant to the Lich King.

Once the identity of the Death Knight class has been taken, each player begins the game with green gear, 4X12 slot bags and twenty silver in Archerus. Talent points for your build can also be easily gained around Ebon Hold when you first play the game as the Death Knight class. It's also very possible to easily acquire blue gear for your character to boost stats fast.

Of all the classes in WoW the Warlock is my favorite, but the Death Knight comes a close second and what I can tell you is the quest chain for the Death Knight is a lot of fun and will certainly keep the player entertained. For a good leveling leveling strategy, I would say that the Outlands are a great zone to focus your efforts and complete available quests.

They're primarily a Melee class and possess the ability to equip there selves with most available Melee weapons found in the game. On top of this they have the ability to equip 2x1 handed weapons or 1x2 handed weapons making them extremely useful in PvP scenarios and as a tank. Not to mention the fact that they can deal out some serious damage in an instant!

The Death Knight class are also well armored with the ability to equip there selves with plate armor, the strongest armor in WoW. Although they are unable to equip a shield, but there strong armor which improves the parry chance and improve there stance in battle.

Death Knights have one more unique ability to other classes and that's that they draw there powers from Runic Power as opposed to Energy or Mana.

Some of the advantages of this class are that they start at level 55, and are very easy to gain momentum and start leveling up fast from level 55+. They can also continue to fight over long periods of time. They are also a great class for PvP, Tanking and Damage Dealing scenarios. Also they're equipped with a pet, they are the Ghoul and Gargoyle pet and they're pretty cool pets to have.

One of the major disadvantages of the this class is that lots of people have opted for this class making it harder to get accepted in group quests as the demand isn't there.

Gaming Community Software Systems and Strategies for Garmin Avionics Communication

Okay so, we living in a world that is constantly evolving on the technology front, and with all the internet communication going on, it's seems to be moving at a nice robust pace. Software and Systems engineers borrow ideas across industries and sectors, and why not. Speaking of which all these systems seem to be blending quite nicely, for instance take online gaming communities and consider how they've influenced the world of simulation, virtual reality, and augmented reality in the real world for training.

The other day, I was speaking to a computer hardware and expert gaming community think tanker, Troy Laclaire, about moving from using gaming community software for training simulators and applying this same software to the task of aircraft navigation, communication, and data information exploits. We noted that Garmin has sure come a long way with their recent GTN 650 and GTN 750 systems for private and corporate aviation. And, in considering ways to improve the uptime, constant flow of pertinent information, and increasing the rate of data transmission, well it seems appropriate to once again tap into the methodology of large gaming communities.

When using the GTN 650 or 750 it appears that the system is pulling in information all of the time, which would mean there really shouldn't be any delay in pulling it up, "however if its only pulling information for each "screen" as that screen is pulled up, then that could account for the delay," Troy noted. Okay, but only the information which is relevant, localized traffic, in that case, and weather radar information. Now then, Troy asks;

I do wonder, as the system gets into more use and the satellites have to transmit to more planes, if this might not eventually result in bottlenecks from the satellite system having to push more information, unless the satellites are just blanketing areas with information, which probably results in a lot of waste/3rd parties being able to receive information and tracking planes.

Now then, isn't this the exact same challenge that gaming communities have? Sure it is, data needs to get to each user, and the game cannot be delayed, or the action is stopped or slowed down, creating a nuisance, or challenges with continuity. In a game safety is not an issue, but in the real world it is, and the online gaming communities have figured out a way to make it all work even with the excessive bandwidth loads, and huge numbers of users.

Therefore, I ask the question; is the world of online gaming communities becoming one with the real world? If so which will survive or will they just blur into one. Indeed, I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

An Introduction to Forum Role Playing

As children we all played role playing games. Even if you weren't into the latest rpg on the Nintendo, you still engaged in role playing every time you play dress up or make believe. This playful practice was formalized into an actual game with rules when wizards of the coast introduced Dungeons and Dragons to the market. From there a variety of spin of card games, board games, and video games ensued. One of the most interesting incarnations is the creation of forum role playing games however.

A forum is a place where people can go online to have discussions with other people from around the world. The software lets them post answers and responses to one another in tandem, either using flat or threaded style formatting.

The role playing takes place when members of the forum each take on the identity of a fictional character. They then work together, responding back and forth in order to tell a story, which moves progressively forward as the various members respond to one another's inquiries.

As the story progresses the players can use either standard literary style to tell the story with quotation marks going around verbal responses from the character, while unenclosed text is used to indicate actions. In other forms, the text will be enclosed in some sort of literary marks, while the actual verbal responses are left unenclosed. The style you play will be determined by the specific site and its community guidelines.

In general other rules will apply to these games as well. Generally you won't be allowed to break character or go OOC (out of character) unless it's through private messaging. Sometimes there will also be a moderator that will direct the flow of the game. These people will often have their own thread specific rules which can be consulted on in private.

The interesting thing about forum role playing is that unlike in other forms, a forum allows the players to keep a record of their interactions, and the story that is created is almost a living book which is constantly growing and changing as more and more people participate.

This makes it as much an act of literary communion as it does a game. In the end the most important thing ends up being that the story you are telling is satisfying. This trumps the importance of keeping your own personal characters safe and out of trouble, or defeating other characters in tasks and challenges.

RolePages is one of the leading forum role playing sites on the web, with thousands of members eager to interact in a variety of multimedia storylines which can be easily joined at any time. The author of this article is Jim Slate, one of the editors on the site.
