Most World of Warcraft players will laugh at you if you tell them you use a World of Warcraft guide, even if they secretly use a guide as well. And most of them do. I didn't really care about this and since I sucked quite a bit at arena, I started to work with a PvP guide.
This World of Warcraft guide has helped me achieve 2200 rating within 2 weeks. That's why in this report I'm going to share a few tips that I've learned.
Tips for Arena
1. Unless you're really good at playing your character, never use PvE gear in arena. The enemy players will cut down your character like butter. As soon as the arena doors will open, you'll probably be dead. Without a team member, your team will have high chances to lose. Even if you think you're good enough and you will play using PvE gear to deal higher damage, at high ratings, players tend to be really tactical and they will turtle-up when you're going to pop your cooldowns. If you don't kill at least one during a damage burst, your team still has higher chances to lose.
2. Learn to play in each arena room. Each one of the arena rooms in the game allows you to pull off certain tricks, depending on the class you play. Learn those tricks, it will put your team at advantage. For example, in Blade's Edge arena, if you're able to run quickly over the ropes uniting the two middle pylons of the bridge, you have a good chance to get rid of an opponent that's harassing you, by making them fall. This will give your team a considerable advantage for 5-6 seconds, until the player who has fallen off goes around to get back on the bridge.
3. The last arena tip in this World of Warcraft guide regards the PvP pets. If you play a pet-class, like a Hunter or Warlock, make sure you choose the pet that's most useful for PvP. For example, for Hunters cunning-type pets are the most useful in arena. They have PvP-oriented abilities, like disarms, slow or root effects, anti-stealth effects etc.
Tips for Battlegrounds
Most players join non-rated BGs because they are bored, to level up, or to farm Honor Points. If you're playing BGs for the last reason, and if it's weekend, check which BG holiday is up. You will get double Honor Points. And if you're leveling up a character via BGs, you don't want to miss an Alterac Valley weekend. You'll get huge amounts of XP here, especially if your team wins.
The last one of the PvP tips in this short World of Warcraft guide regards capture-flag BGs, like Warsong Gulch or Twin Peaks. By attacking the opposite team as the BG starts, even if you're alone, some of them will stop to fight you. Using your defensive cooldowns and your kiting skills, you can easily split their group. Once a team is scattered throughout the BG, it's easier to defeat them, and to intercept and kill a flag carrier.
I hope these PvP tips are useful to you. However, if you really want to become an ace in arena and battlegrounds, here's a complete World of Warcraft Guide.
