Shaman Guide - Tips Regarding The Enhancement Shaman Spec

You can play as an Enhancement shaman in PvP and PvE. This Shaman spec is a lot of fun, especially is a caster class is not exactly your cup of tea. However, the Enhancement spec for PvE DPS should be slightly different from the PvP spec. So, in this short Shaman guide, I'm going to tell you how to train your Enhancement shaman for PvP and PvE.

Enhancement Shaman Spec for PvE

Since you're going with the Enhancement talent line, at least 30 points must be trained in this line. However, not all of them are PvE-oriented. So, to be more effective are a melee-DPS shaman, you should leave out the following talents from your spec:

1. Ancestral Swiftness. This talent allows you to change into Ghost Wolf quicker and also increases your speed while turned into Ghost Wolf. Obviously it's a talent for PvP.

2. Toughness. This talent increases your stamina and reduces the duration of movement impairing effects. Again, a PvP-oriented talent. In PvE you don't really need extra stamina and HP as a DPS, you will have healers in your group to back you up.

3. Seasoned Winds. This talent enables you to gain spell resistance if you successfully interrupt an opponents spell with your Wind Shear. Another PvP talent.

4. Improved Shields. In a raid or 5-man dungeon group you shouldn't rely on your shields as a melee shaman.

5. Earthen Power. This talent enables your Earthbind Totem to remove the snare effects from your party members. This talent might be useful for various boss encounters. However, it's up to you to decide if you want to support your group better, or to gain more damage.

Leaving out these 5 talents, you will gain 10 extra talents points. The best option to enhance your melee DPS is to cap the following talents from the Elemental ability tree:

1. Acuity - which will grant you 3% critical chance for any attack.

2. Concussion - especially to increase the damage of your Shock spells by 6%.

3. Call of Flame - to gain 20% damage for your Fire Totems and Fire Nova, and also 10% damage on your Lava Burst spell.

4. Reverberation - to reduce the cooldown of the Shock spells by 1 second and the cooldown of Wind Shear by 10 seconds.

Enhancement Shaman Spec for PvP

The second part of this short Shaman guide refers to the PvP Enhancement spec. This should be pretty simple. All your points should go in your Enhancement spec talents. The only talent to leave out from this ability tree is Unleashed Rage. This grants you expertise, which is pretty much a PvE statistic.

Tips Regarding Your WoW PvP Gear

If you have a little bit of skill, it's quite fun to play battlegrounds using PvE gear, especially if you're a damage dealer. However, if you want performance, and high arena ratings, well, that basically can't be achieved with proper WoW PvP gear.

Tweaking your WoW PvP gear is also important. That's why in this post I'm going to provide a few tips.

First of all, the most important statistic for PvP is Resilience. That's why it's best to enchant your PvP gear with enchantments that boost your resilience, and also add Mystic gems into the sockets of your gear. However, if you're a damage dealer, there's a more important statistic than Resilience. That is Hit Rating. You need a minimum of 5% hit rating to make sure you don't miss with your special spells and combat abilities when you attack other players. Otherwise, you will be at a disadvantage. Therefore, the first thing you should do is cap your 5% Hit Rating, and only then start amassing Resilience.

A very good profession combo for arena is Jewelcrafting/Blacksmithing. Of course, capping both these professions will cost you a lot of gold. However, it's totally worth it if you want a decent WoW PvP gear boost. Jewelcrafting will give you the possibility to craft and wear 3 gems that are superior to any other gems in the game. Blacksmithing will allow you to add an extra socket on your bracers and gloves.

Engineering is also not a bad profession for PvP. It's very fun to play PvP as an Engineer. You get all kinds of bombs and grenades to troll your enemies and make them rage quit. However most of the Engineering stuff doesn't work in arena. There's one very useful thing from Engineering for Hunters though. It's the Flexweave Underlay cloak enchantment that allows your cloak to become a parachute and slow your falling. Opening your parachute when you use Disengage, will allow your Hunter to jump back for a longer distance, sometimes out of the range of your enemy. Therefore, this cloak enchantment can be quite a boost for your WoW PvP gear and for your whole play style.

PvP weapons usually have pretty good stats, including a lot of Resilience. However, especially for melee classes, in case you have much better, DPS-wise, PvE weapons, you should use those. As a DPS class, in PvP your main job is to deal damage. Even if you're a more tactical player, and a weapon with Resilience will give you more survivability, in the end, dealing more damage than your enemy will bring you victory.

I hope these tips about WoW PvP gear are useful.
