If you have been playing the recently released Modern Warfare 3, you may have noticed that there are players roaming the map with sniper rifles, and they pick you off without even having the cross hairs on you. This is commonly referred to as quick scoping in the Call of Duty series.
If you are the one being quick scoped it can be quite frustrating. However, if you are the guy on the other side of the scope, it can be quite fun. Here are some tips on how to quick scope in Modern Warfare 3.
First thing is first. You have to have an excellent class setup in order to effectively master this art. Obviously this includes a sniper rifle. Personally I prefer the MSR Sniper Rifle. It will be important to add the Extended Mags attachment as soon as you unlock it. Having extended mags will give you some extra shots when you get yourself into sticky situations with multiple opponents, and when you still aren't good at landing the shot on the first try additional ammunition will be crucial.
The second fundamental is the Perk load outs. Quickdraw is a must for a true quick scope professional. Steady Aim will also be beneficial for the occasions when you actually want to lock the cross hairs onto your opponent. Sleight of Hand is debatable, but I have found this one to work nicely with the other two perks.
The real key in quick scoping is to line your enemy up in front of you and begin to squeeze the left trigger (aim button). Just as the cross hairs are about to pull up and you can just barely see your opponent to begin to focus in the scope pull the right trigger (fire button). This is a bit of an art to get the timing right, however, with a modded controller this art can easily become a science. The modded controller will get the timing right every time and your success rate will skyrocket.
Some people consider the modded controller to be cheating, while others think it can take away from the natural gaming experience. None-the-less it is effective.
Whether you decide to use the modded controller method or practice and become an all natural professional, your opponent isn't going to stand a chance against you with anything other then a head shot.
One other tip to keep in mind is to stand still when you are aiming, and firing. It will also help to crouch, as this steadies your aim.
