Top 3 Hints to Avoid Game Tester Gimmicks

There is great interest in video game testing as a career. Even shows have been created around the subject. You may have always wanted to be a video game tester. Games testers are all over the world. A Games tester might take an Xbox? games tester job, or an EA games tester job, but landing the job is the hard since the number of people who apply for a game testing positions is 200-300 times the number of openings. Because of this interest and competition, some solutions are trying to take advantage this excitement and produce unimportant and misleading media to sell as a solution.

Here are 3 things you can do to avoid bad information as you pursue your dream of becoming a video game tester.

Make sure the company has an email support address, phone number and physical address. Call and email the company. Talk to someone or leave a message. Do they return your call or email? Ask a simple question. Did they respond? If this doesn't help, email them a letter. Does it come back undeliverable?Never pay for a job or job list, or subscription to a job list. There are blogs and websites that compile the game testing positions. There are directories that list game publishers and developers. Just Google them yourself and save the money.See if they have industry connections to game design colleges or schools. If another company with an industry presence offers or uses their material, they have already done the verification of the material for you. If you can't find it. That speaks to the quality of the material being offered.

And one final bonus:

Watch out for the "Scambusting" or the "Review" articles or sites. Several of these game testing information sites use affiliate programs. The affiliates will review the content and write a review. If you find a site that has a review, see if the review was done by an affiliate. Realize that the reviewing person's livelihood is made by the company they are reviewing. They may not give an unbiased opinion in the review. How to find out if they have an affiliate program? Google "affiliate" and the name of the website and also try the affiliate program directories like commissionjunction or ClickBank.
