5 Annoying Habits Uppity Gamers Have

Cite what they know as fact, even though they've been proven WRONG.

What I said was right! *posts link that proves what they said as wrong* (Usually an addition of a few words are used to try to make their statement to be correct all the same).

A couple of days ago in a Facebook Nintendo 3DS community, a member asked if we were excited about E3. There were several comments and I noticed someone say that Nintendo is not having an event at Best Buy that will allow consumers the chance to try WiiU games featured at E3. I commented that Nintendo is indeed having an event at participating Best Buy locations. Not long after, "K" posted:

"Grim actually Nintendo is not having an event at Best Buy."

Confused but open to the possibility of me being incorrect, I Googled and confirmed that Nintendo was still planning on setting up unreleased games to play at Best Buy. Just as I was about to respond, a fellow commenter posted another source solidifying my earlier claim. Their response was: " Well everybody is doing it, not Nintendo!" Here's the thing: It doesn't matter whether everyone is setting up kiosks at Best Buy, Nintendo is still allowing costumers to experience a "mini E3"!

The very same naysayer, claimed that Nintendo wasn't going to be at E3 at all. I told her that Nintendo will most definitely be at E3, but they will not be hosting a huge press conference like the other two console giants, Microsoft and Sony. (Also, Best Buy isn't hosting Microsoft and Sony kiosks during E3. Where she got that from I have no idea, but if you know feel free to post it in the comments). I also stated that they would be talking to a limited amount of media on June 11th, along with relaying game info through Nintendo Direct. I even went as far as listing the booth locations they had reserved at E3 (as per Shawn "Locdaborg" Jackson, who is also attending E3).

She said, " No they aren't going to be at E3! See?" and posted a link to an article on IGN, which confirmed what myself and another group member said: no big conference, smaller media coverage and games to be played at E3. When her mistake was disclosed she retorted, " That's just for business partners. Nintendo will be limiting their media and booths to business partners." I was floored.

Think their gaming friends are the end all, be all.

"All of the gamers I know would never play that game/said the game was horrible", of course, in reference to you saying that you thought the game was good or wasn't THAT bad. These uppity gamers will shove your opinion out the window, even if they've never played the game before. Their single defense is because their gamer buddies don't like it, it must be bad, therefore you don't know what the hell you are talking about. Seems legit. Lately, this line seems to always pop up in conversations about the WiiU. It never fails-- someone will invalidate another person's opinion or try to shame them for having a WiiU by saying "None of my friends have a WiiU." How does that cancel out someone else's experience? Some will even tag a friend or two, to see if they can grab a crowd in making sure you know, that your opinions are wrong as ever.

Talk down to you/try to make you feel stupid for your choice in favorite game or console.

"Yeah I like to play more sophisticated games, that game is for morons. "

You'll listen to them sing their praises of a past or current game and how they'd recommend it to anyone willing to lend an ear and then you make the mistake of sharing what you love to play and the storm arrives; your game is inferior or is made for kids! This uppity gamer will give you side eye and literally stick their nose in the air while they give you a long speech on why your game would never make it into their coveted gaming collection and anybody who plays it should be ashamed to call themselves as a gamer. God help you if the discussion is about the awaited new gen consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox ONE. Angry comments about which console is better than the other, take the place of the "adult" thought process called Agree to Disagree or simply agreeing that both consoles have their ups and downs, you just happen to have a preference in which cons you'd rather deal with.

The most prevalent group in gaming battles are PC warriors: "PC is better than everything!", "That's why I stick to PC!", "Consoles will never be as powerful as PCs!" Relax.I happen to play on both PC and console, but some people truly prefer and enjoy having a controller in their hands versus a mouse and a keyboard. Either way, we're all gamers, so what's the big deal?

Become extremely upset when you or other people don't agree with them on a game/console and then claim YOU'RE the one getting in your feelings.

Game forums and Facebook groups/pages are teaming with folk who can't effectively discuss anything without it breaking to a full blown argument. Sometimes that argument is one-sided; you'll observe as one person responds very matter of factly and the other person (already clearly upset and defensive), misread, add words and/or take offense for absolutely no reason to what originally said. When you call them out on their dramatic behavior, they'll say one of two lines:

I don't have time for this/you're being childishIf you're a woman, they'll tell you you're being overly sensitive even if you weren't the one to get upset.

This is when you know they have no ground to stand on and have no idea how to respond.

Throw "Gamer Cred" at you.

"I've been playing games for X amount of years, therefore your argument is null and void."

Possibly the most annoying of the 5, I hate to see uppity gamers throw how many years they have been "gaming" to shut someone up-- they have no idea how old a person is nor what games they've played, yet the moment they say "Well, I've been playing games for such and such amount of years and (condescending comment here) is supposed to obliterate anything you know or play! It sucks even more when I see male gamers play the "Good Ole Boy" card at a female gamer. Surely, a woman could never have more gamer knowledge than you and her opinion should be struck from internet records! Playing games for 50 years doesn't make you a great gamer nor does it make you the Keeper of All Game Knowledge-- it just makes you a connoisseur of games.

The gaming community-- the REAL one, whether it's video or table top games, we treat each other with respect and are aware that regardless of what we choose to play in our spare time, we are a FAMILY.

Is Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo Forgetting Hardcore Gamers in Favour of Motion Control Gaming?

Back at E3 this year, the big three gaming companies, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all debuted their plans for the next year. All of the announcements followed the same particular trend.. Motion gaming. Nintendo planned on releasing their latest console called the Wii U, a completely redesigned device that utilises a new controller with a built-in touch screen display. Microsoft showcased more titles for their latest platform Kinect (a device that captures the users movements and actions, making people the controller) and Sony try to push their Move controller (based on the Wiimote, it interprets the user gestures and movements into the game). It seems like the big three are forgetting about the people who used to buy their products ten years ago, the hard-core gamers. In a bid to push their new devices to the main stream public, there was very little mention about games that didn't involve waving your arms in front of a TV screen or jumping up in down in your living room. Call me old-fashioned, but I care about games that are filled with game play and a deep story rather than games that leave me a in a sweat and looking like an idiot.

Ever since Nintendo released the Wii back in 2006, Sony and Microsoft have been playing catch up, desperately trying better Nintendo's attempt of making gaming available of the masses. Video games have long been associated with a small group of people, generally male and in their early teens. However Nintendo broke that trend and made a console designed for the mass market, bringing mum and dads, grans and grand dad's in on video gaming. To be fair to Nintendo, they have done well with the Wii. It was a great success, selling 89 million units so far (33 million more that the PS3 and Xbox 360) making it Nintendo's best-selling games control. As far as Nintendo is concerned they had achieved what they set out, making Video gaming more appealing to the main stream market.

However as a by-product of making video gaming more appealing to a wider audience, (In my opinion) the games became easier and less appealing to the hard-core gamer. I think, in a trade-off between making games more appealing to a wider audience, Nintendo have alienated the people who might have bought their controls 10 years ago. The question is, while the big three pushing their latest devices, how long will it be before we see established PS3 and Xbox franchises such as Final Fantasy, Call of Duty and Gears of War adopt motion controlling. I cant imagine playing my favourite games without a controller joystick in my hand. For example at E3 this year, Lion head studios (The developer of the Fable series) announced they would be releasing Fable: The Journey. The new title in the series would abandon the traditional controller, in favour of adopting Microsoft Kinect. Watching the trailer it looked very promising, letting the user cast spells and fire guns by just using gestures with their hands, until it became clear that you didn't control your characters movements, just where he fired his guns. Essentially the game's character was on rails, in a fixed place until you defeated the enemy's on the screen. The ability to roam around freely and adventure on your own (One of Fables previous selling points) has been removed in favour for motion gaming. I don't think I'm the only person to feel cheated that one of my favourite franchise title's gameplay had been watered down to take advantage of gimmicky motion gaming.

To close, I hope Sony and Microsoft don't forget about their loyal following that appreciate games which involve depth and gameplay and don't sell substandard games in order to appeal a wider audience. Call me old-fashioned or a skeptic but I would prefer playing Skyrim or Call of duty sitting on a sofa and not waving a remote in front of a TV, and I hope I'm not the only one.

Holiday Gift Ideas for Gamers That Made the Good List This Year

Chances are you've got a gamer or two - or three - in your family. Fortunately, with the quantity, variety, and sophistication of the electronic equipment orbiting the video game industry today - there are products for people of all ages, shapes and sizes. It's no wonder digital game departments are flooding with consumers this holiday season.

But not all of us can keep up to par on the hottest hardware, accessories or peripherals. So here's a mini guide to some of best gift-choices for the gamer in your life:

Kinect - You're probably already familiar with this add-on for the Xbox 360, courtesy of Microsoft - but whether it's an apt choice for your gift recipient is another question. Kinect games are in general not as popular amongst the more advanced gamers of today - therefore it makes a great present for families and not-so-fanatic video game-heads. As an alternative, you might also consider firing up Kinect at your next holiday party where guests can participate in dance contests, brain tease-competitions or other not-so-intense games.

Nyko Zoom Box - Here's the perfect gift for your urban friend, your niece who just left for college - or any other person on your list who's got limited space to play in. Compact and simple, the Zoom can be fixed onto the front of a Kinect, taking away the need for Kinect's cameras which are notorious for hogging up space. With Zoom, players have enough room to perfect their virtual slam dunks without fear of knocking over a lamp or two.

Razer Onya Tournament Edition Controller - Hardcore gamers have this gadget on the very top of their wish-lists this year - it is the gift for the gamer who has made it his life's work to secure the championship in a virtual tournament. The Razer is top amongst serious players chiefly due to its wicked-fast response time, a precision D-Pad, and hypersensitivity to touch for boosted firing power.

Rocksmith Bundle - For a PC, PS3 or Xbox 360, this peripheral is more of an educational device than a game. Ideal for the gamer who wants to unleash his inner Jimi Hendrix, this tool is the closest you can get to live guitar lessons. The game is compatible with practically any real guitar and provides instruction via some of the most popular songs in a slew of genres to jam to and learn along with.

Assassin's Creed Apparel - This is probably the least expected of ideas when it comes to gifts for gamers - but by far the best way to stay within your budget. The Assassin Creed's new line, by Ubisoft, features T-shirts, caps and accessories (some for as little as $20) sporting the logo from the popular science fiction action-adventure game - a hip, creative flair that any dedicated gamer would sure love to add to her wardrobe.

These are just a few of the items on the market this season. There is a sea of gifts to choose for the video game connoisseur (as well as the novice) on your list - and luckily, the selection includes a winning gift at every price point.

Yahtzee Is a Favorite Pastime for Gamers

Yahtzee is a traditional dice game that is well-known to many across the world. The game play is based on the rolling of five dice simultaneously. A score is then calculated based on the dice reading.

In the past, people played with dice cubes when gambling. Different variations of dice games have been invented ever since. One of the most common is Yahtzee. There are free Yahtzee games that are availed online for anyone with an interest in rolling dice. The players have to be extremely strategic, though, in order to win.

Once you roll the dice, your score is determined by the numbers read on the dice that you have rolled. You can play as a single player or in a group. While playing in a group, the player with the highest score wins.

This dice game depends a lot on the luck of the player. It is simple to learn. You are required to select a combination score of the dice before rolling the dice again. Every player has three turns, and they are usually driven by hopes of getting one of the number combinations that they have chosen. It is near-impossible for the players to get all the combinations that they are seeking. At the end of all the group rounds, whoever records highest total on their scorecard wins the game.

If you ever scored fifty points, you would have the highest score possible on the Yahtzee score card. This score is known as a five-of-a-kind. scoring the fifty points causes the player to be awarded 100 points as a bonus. The bonus increases the chances of winning.

There are different varieties of this game that people can play. For instance, there are painted, triple and pyramid variations. Triple Yahtzee, just like the name says, is more like enjoying three games at once. For pyramid Yahtzee, triangular dice are used when playing. Painted Yahtzee is all about colors, which implies that the scores are made up according to the color combination that the player gets correct.

Free Yahtzee gives new players a chance to have a unique gaming experience. You just have to make sure you carefully choose a pot before rolling. There is a high chance of scoring and getting bonuses to elevate your score. Since the game is free and online, you can play it any time you want and get to learn new ways of having the combinations right.

We provide the best info about free Yahtzee. For further details please visit the provided link.
