Health And Well-Being Benefits Of Gaming

We all heard from our parents that gaming is bad for our health. This holds true in some cases, especially when a gamer spends all his day and his life sitting on the sofa playing his favorite game. However, there are games that provide more benefits. There are a lot of recreations that even promote good health, which is not impossible with all the advanced gaming equipments available to us.

Playing activities like racing, war simulation, and first-person shooting matches improves the reflexes, the ability to plan ahead, and adjust to situations instantly. These are the things that a person needs in order to successfully dominate the game, and will be improved gradually as they continue to play these kinds of schemes. Although some of these activities may promote violence, the risk will be eliminated with proper guidance from parents.

I know that no one will oppose when I say that educational games have tons of benefits. However, this is an article that discusses the benefits of playing games, so I decided to include them. Puzzles, problem solving, and academic skills of our children are enhanced with the help of these games, even adults are learning something new while playing these education exercises.

Playing games these days no longer needs a player to sit all day on the sofa. In fact, using the Motion Plus controller of Nintendo Wii requires a player to physically move in order to play games. This will not only enhance the gaming experience, but will also help them burn fat and calories.

So, before you go with the saying that games are bad for your health, think again. Some activities may be bad for you, but with these new games on board, playing pastimes are becoming more beneficial. More than a source of entertainment, gaming is slowly shifting in to becoming a source of good health, fitness and well-being.

Is GameStop Going Out of Business?

Without hesitation I can say I go to GameStop for all my gaming needs. I love the store. I like walking in and browsing for hidden gems. I like pre-ordering games, buying used games, and every once in a while having small talk with the friendly, albeit, somewhat nerdy, staff.

Other than their awesome return policy on used games, and on occasion the reasonable pricing, I don't really think of GameStop as a generous, price conscious company. I know up front they are in it for the money, and to be fair, for the money, they mostly deliver.

I know that they buy my old games for coke caps and sell them for gold bullion. With all this said, I still love GameStop. if you're a gamer, how can you not?

Here's what is worrying me. I think of GameStop as an evil necessary friend, or a necessary evil; whatever, you know what I mean. They're kind of like your drug dealer, if you're addicted to crack. He doesn't really care about you, but he's got what you NEED and is always there when you need him.

With that said, I'm afraid I might lose my dealer and here's why.

First

GameStop is in a mad dash to get rid of their inventory. I bought 47 games for $108. That's with shipping and two-day delivery.

Second

The rumor mill, the Hopi Indians, the web-bot, and even "chatter" being picked up by the NSA, are pointing to an all digital gaming market. All downloads... No more buying CD's or cartridges.

Third

GameStop is not a publisher or a developer. It's a retail business, like Best Buy, and in case you haven't heard, they're closing a boat load of stores.

Fourth

GameStop bought Kongregate, no doubt to diversify their revenue stream.

I'm speculating of course, but the future does not look good for GameStop. Or does it?

After all, GameStop has built a gaming empire, mecca, military industrial complex, universal healthcare, smelly kids utopia, gaming retail business Donald Trump would be proud of.

Surely they've got something up their sleeves. Please tell me you have a plan.

I know one thing for sure:

GameStop execs are working their butts off to survive the coming gaming apocalypse. You know, the one the Mayans predicted. You can be sure the corporate offices of GameStop are tense and cutthroat. And in this environment they will either succeed and survive, or alter their business model and be relegated to "publishing" browser games.

We will know Friday December 21, 2012.

A Quick Guide to Scrabble Cheats

Once upon a time, board games were the only form of entertainment. One of the most popular was Scrabble. During that time, the only cheating involved in Scrabble was when you peaked at a dictionary when your opponent wasn't looking. We all can imagine how difficult that was to accomplish. Nowadays, ever since Scrabble went online, people have seen an increase in the available cheats offered by numerous websites. And even if you find using such tools like a Scrabble cheat board unethical, it always pays to know what's out there and what each one can do so you know what to be on the lookout for.

First off, all the different kinds of Scrabble cheats are word finders. From Scrabble cheat boards to simple anagram solvers, all of them have a common purpose: to make sense out of the random letters on your rack. The difference between the different types is mostly in the level of cheating that is offered. The most basic tool that can be used is word checkers. Word checkers are pretty self-defining. If you want to know if the word you're thinking to build is valid, a word checker can do that for you. For most Scrabble players, using this tool is not really cheating or, at the very least, is at the lowest level of cheating and can be ignored.

The second type of Scrabble cheat is the anagram solver. Anagram solvers are used to build words out of random letters, hence, its name. Now, these are admittedly great tools if you find yourself unable to form any kind of word from the tiles that you have. It will normally even order the results based on the amount of points that you will gain. The problem with this tool, aside from the fact that it helps you cheat, is that high-scoring words are not the solely responsible for winning a game of Scrabble. Using such a tool will only help you find words but not help you strategize throughout the game. Thus, using one does not equate to winning. It's also quite easy to get caught using this tool because you'll be dishing out one high-scoring word after another. While there are some Scrabble players that are fine with their opponents using this tool, many consider this "true cheating" and are offended by others who utilize it to win a game.

Because of the limitations of the anagram solver, some innovative individuals came up with a more specialized Scrabble helper. Sometimes, we find ourselves looking at several openings on the board and wondering what word we can build to make use of that opening, particularly if it is on a premium square. With this type of tool, you can find out what words can be built along those that are already in the board. For example, if you saw a B and then 4 blank spaces and then the letter K, you can use this special tool to find out all the words that fit into this description.

The last type of cheat is the most complex one but is also the most comprehensive: the Scrabble cheat board. Like the anagram solver, it will also enable you to find all the possible words based on the tiles that you have. But unlike the former cheats, a Scrabble cheat board will also inform you the best possible move you can make based on what's on the board. While an anagram solver will only require you to input the letters you have, a Scrabble cheat board will ask you to input what's currently on the entire board and what tiles are on your rack. Using an algorithm, it will come up with a high scoring word that will maximize your points while minimizing the openings that you give your opponent.

As you can see, any player looking to get ahead in the game of Scrabble has quite a lot of options open to him. However, whether you choose to use a simple word checker or the comprehensive Scrabble cheat board, it's always best to be upfront about it. As they say, honesty is the best policy.

Basic Rules in Hiding a Geocache

To make the Geocaching experience enjoyable to everyone, here are the basic rules that need to be followed:

1. Cachers are not allowed to move the location or placement of the cache. The Geocaching website provides a forum for you to share your Geocaching experience, so use it to your advantage. You can contact the cache owner if you see irregularities on the cache placement or if the location where the Geocache was placed is dangerous. The owner of the Geocache is the person responsible in maintaining the Geocache.

2. Do not take anything from the cache unless you intend to replace it. What is inside the cache is considered the "treasure" or the prize that a Geocacher receives for finding the cache. If you intend to take what is in it, you are obliged to replace it with something of equal or greater value so that the other cachers that are hunting for that cache have something in store for them.

3. Placing food items like alcohol, drugs, explosives, knives and other harmful objects are prohibited. Food items are not allowed because there might be some animals that would destroy the cache to get the food inside it. Cache owners must bear in mind that Geocaching is a game that is played by people from almost all age range. Please help keep the game as wholesome as possible to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone.

4. As much as possible, avoid placing the cache in public places (ex. Schools, national parks, banks and buildings) and on privately own lots and residential houses. Public places must be avoided in hiding the caches because of security issues. Geocaches come in all kinds of shapes and sizes that can sometimes be suspicious. There are instances that Geocachers are interrogated by the police due to suspicion on their acts. Unless you secure a permit, avoid hiding caches on public places. Cemeteries and archeological sites are also included in this scope.

5. Minimize the impact on nature. There are places that are intended to protect and preserve wildlife. Avoid placing caches in these areas. You will be violating federal laws if you place caches on areas that are administered by the government such as national parks. Let us all respect the law.

When hiding caches, use your common sense and keep in mind the safety of other players. The Geocaching game was created to be an exciting and fun experience for everyone.

5 Tips To Improve Your Magic Gameplay

Here Are 5 tips to improve your Magic gameplay

1. Constantly check your own and your opponent's graveyard to know what cards have been used. A simple move that goes a long way in your games, constantly checking the graveyards allow you to remind yourself what spell has your opponent played and how many copies of a card is left in your deck. If your opponent has exhausted all 4 copies of his Day of Judgment, you have no more worries of pouring all your creatures to the battlefield!

2. Take lots of notes! Whenever your opponent searches his library for a card, or after you've Duress them, take note of the cards in your opponent's hand. Knowing what cards your opponent has in hand allows you to plan out your moves careful to avoid falling behind tempo and cards. If your opponent has revealed a Consume the Meek via your Goblin Guide, take note of it so you won't over commit and walk straight into it!

3. Take your time to consider your options and outs before rushing into a decision, it's too late to pull back once you've made the wrong play. Think carefully and consider your options before making a play too quickly. You might be excited when you pull a Lightning Bolt of the top when your opponent is at 3 life, but don't be too hasty and slam it down when your opponent has tons of open mana! You might walk into a counter magic or damage prevention that then cause you the game. Consider your options, and then play accordingly.

4. Prepare notes for yourself to read during sideboard time to remind yourself your game plan against a specific deck. With the new M11 rules, it is now legal to bring notes and refer to them between rounds and games in a tournament. Write up notes regarding your game plan and sideboard against different decks, and then refer to them during sideboard time to reaffirm your plan.

5. Learn to mulligan aggressively if your deck relies on specific cards to work. A lot of hands seems playable and decent, but if your deck needs a specific card to operate or a specific hate card that single handedly win you games against your opponent's deck, throw them away till you find the card. If you're opponent is playing a deck base relying on graveyard, you can afford to mulligan down to 5 to find that sideboard Leyline of the Void and still win the game.
